NCC Education signs a new contract for Affiliate

Originally part of the National Computing Centre, NCC Education started offering IT qualifications in 1976 and from 1997 developed its higher education portfolio to include foundation and business programmes. With accredited partners in over 45 countries, 5 international offices and academic managers worldwide, NCC Education employs the latest technologies for learning, assessment and support.

Following a comprehensive procurement process to replace an aged bespoke system, NCC Education chose Affiliate from RedSky IT as its new education solution.

Affiliate was chosen as it has extensive functionality, was flexible enough to manage recent changes within the international qualifications structure and was also able to support NCC Education’s global e-learning community, which includes the NCC Education campus, a virtual learning and support environment for students and accredited partners alike. NCC Education was also confident that RedSky IT really understood the education sector as the company has extensive experience in delivering software solutions to both awarding bodies and universities.

The new Affiliate solution will be running under Microsoft Windows and Microsoft SQL Server 2000. It includes an integrated set of management solutions that will provide NCC Education with the functionality to manage its students, examiners, course providers, membership and alumni, disciplinary, sales and marketing, events and sales order processing.

Forming part of the Affiliate solution is also a suite of web services, including an extranet service that will enable NCC Education to provide 24/7 online services to its students and course providers with an interface to the virtual campus. NCC Education will also implement Affiliate OLE, which enables users to link copies of scanned documents, such as a student’s proof of his or her previous qualifications or a copy of their passport to the contact record.
